THAT NAME, THOUGH

But first, seriously, if you or someone you know thinks that “Schnauzer” is hard to pronounce, you’re not alone.

The name, as you may know, is derived from the German word for “snout” and, more informally, means “moustache”, or “whiskered snout.”
It should probably actually mean “beautiful bearded overlord” but that’s for another page…

“Schnauzer” is actually rated as a moderately difficult-to-say word, so here’s a helpful phonetic breakdown.

Say it with me:

sh-n-OW-z-er

Awesome.

THREE PUREBRED SCHNAUZER VARIETIES

It’s difficult, if not impossible, to talk about Schnauzers without talking about each of the three breeds: Miniature, Standard, and Giant.

All Schnauzer breeds have a lot in common, and every article here includes information that is applicable to all Schnauzer breeds. In areas where the breeds differ, articles include relevant sections on each variety of Schnauzer.

For more specialized information on your particular Schnauzer, simply search this site for your breed or start by reading the Go-To Guides below:
